Hi, welcome to Holistic Allie! I’m Allison, and I created this blog to showcase my love of real food, health, and wellness. I have a background in holistic nutrition and Environmental Studies. I am an avid runner and fitness lover. I currently call Ottawa, Ontario, home.
I was lucky enough to have grown up in a home where real, whole food was the norm and my passion for cooking took off at a young age. I have been a vegetarian since the age of 15. While I have dabbled in veganism, I have always returned to vegetarianism with an eye towards supporting local and organic farmers. I don’t have any allergies, but you will find many recipes on this site that are free from nuts, gluten, dairy, soy, and refined sweeteners. I believe that all foods fit into a healthy lifestyle and that health is not a one size fits all pursuit! You will see plenty of salads and smoothies, but I always leave room for dessert. 🙂 My diet is comprised primarily of whole foods but I strongly believe in balance and that is my aim with Holistic Allie.
